Lansdowne Panorama

My first Panorama shot after a long time. The last one i took was of Matteputty Dam in Munnar. (Click here to see that)

On the last weekend trip to Lansdowne, I took this Panorama photo from Tip-N-Top point. You can see the Western Himalayas in the pic in the background. I took this photo without using tripod. The earlier one (Munnar) was taken using a tripod. The key to any panorama pic is to take shots with 30% of common area between two consecutive shots. You should not move the camera up and down for hoz. panorama, only sideways. Thats why a tripod is necessary. On this trip I totally forgot to bring the tripod:(

I placed the camera on the railing and moved the digicam sideways to capture 5 pics and joined them to create this photograph. Fortunately, the pics came out good enough to create a panorama. To see a bigger version click here.

I am running out of words to express how I think about this image. This definitely is one of your best visualizations. Great capture at that. The larger version almost brought everything alive.
Guruji! No words as I said! Sexy stuff man!

Brilliant shot Deepak. I love the colour of the sky. What camera do you use. I am asking because most of the cameras come with a panoramic shot options that allows you to do pretty much what you said. Nikon keeps a faded portion of the previosu image so that you can line up the next one with that and it also locks all the camera setting to maintain the same exposure for all shots.

Thanks for the comment man.

BTW, what aer you using for the panorama? I have a software that came with my Lumix but it isnt installing properly. Is there any good freeware available out there?

I'm a huge fan of 'paint' and the KISS strategy. I've made panoramas in paint before but I'm just a little lazy these days. Reco some good panorama stitching tool.

I've got a link to it on my blog sidebar. Check for a link in the "Favourite Links" section for ZOTO. In fact, I've added mouse-hover information for these links (and for the favourite posts as well). So, hover your mouse over these things and check out what I've got to say!

I habe to confess that when i saw ur matteputty dam panorama photo ages ago, it made me crave for a camera, and when i got the same feature in my phone i was over the moon. I clicked so many panoramic photos with that. offcourse nothing compared to your brlliance that you have captured in this latest photograph. ITS SIMPLY BRILLIANT.
